Prospective Students


Which semesters may I start the program?
We admit students for fall, spring or summer semesters.  However, course offerings are VERY limited in the summer to fall or spring is really best.

What are the application deadlines?
For graduate students:
  • Fall semester - May 15
  • Spring semester - October 15
  • Summer semester - March 15
For undergraduate students:

Is financial assistance available?
For graduate students we have a limited number of graduate assistantships available as well as a few special scholarship programs on campus.  Those interested in applying should contact Dr. Michael Burnett, Director of SHRE&WD who administers those programs.
Undergraduate financial aid is handled through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid.

Do you accept international students?
Absolutely.  We regularly enroll a number of international students from various parts of the world and our faculty are experienced in working with international students.  We welcome you.


Do you require the GRE exam?
Yes we do.

What if I have already taken the GMAT?
We will also accept your GMAT score in lieu of the GRE if you have already taken it.

Graduate and undergraduate students may apply online.  Use the links in the left hand column to go to the appropriate office and look for application links.
Do you require an interview for graduate program applicants?
We don't require an interview but are happy to meet with prospective students.

What are your minimum requirements for a M.S. applicant?
Full admission will be granted when a student meets the normal entrance requirements set by the School.
We use a formula to combine undergraduate GPA and your GRE score (UGPA * GRE).  You must have a minumum of xxx to receive full admission.  Note however that we pay closest attention to your undergraduate GPA for the last two years of study.
Provisional and probationary admission may be granter to those showing other indications that they will be successful in our program.


What are your minimum requirements for a Ph.D. applicant?
Full admission will be granted when a student meets the normal entrance requirements set by the School.
We use a formula to combine undergraduate GPA, graduate GPA and your GRE score (UGPA * GRE + GGPA * GRE).  You must have a minumum of 6000 and a minimum GRE score of 900 to receive full admission.  Note however that we pay closest attention to your undergraduate GPA for the last two years of study.
Provisional and probationary admission may be granter to those showing other indications that they will be successful in our program.

What are the minimum admission requirements for undergraduate freshman and transfer students?
You must meet the minimum admission requirements set by LSU which are outlined on the Office of Undergraduate Admissions web site.
